MERCER GENERATING STATION - Trenton, NJ

Project is a $300 million rehabilitation effort for each of (2) 350 MW coal-fired units.  The Project is driven by environmental and reliability issues.  A new state of the art precipitator has been added along with Combustion Emission Monitoring Systems (CEM's) conversion of the boilers to balanced-draft, new fly ash handling system which will allow segregation of salable and non-salable ash, control room renovations, and a total upgrade of the plant computer to support the addition of a plant wide distributed control system (DCS).

Concord has been supporting the project since January 1989, in the following areas:

  • Project engineering and design for mechanical systems.

  • Startup & test program management and field implementation.

  • Project controls support such as scheduling, including development of a construction cost tracking program (CCTP).

  • Control room redesign of 'Horseshoe' Panel to accommodate DCS CRT screens.

  • Project engineering support for the Bailey Net 90 addition.

  • Development of an operations procedure access retrieval system (OPAR's) for word search of operations/maintenance procedures networked to plant control room.

  • Development of NJDEP air permits for Fly Ash System point sources.
